Ricky Learns to Read!!!
Tradition, dedication, self discipline, and control. Learn all you can about the world of MMA aka Mixed Martial Arts. This book follows fighter Sam Sheridan in his quest through the world of fighting. Straight out of Harvard this man starts his quest to become a fighter, from muay thai in Thailand, jiu-jitsu in Brazil, tai chi in New York City and boxing in Oakland, Calif., to name a few. He's seen and experienced just about everything one would need to know about fighting, from training to the main event, physical and mental. What every fighter goes through, the pain and sometimes suffering, triumphant victories, to the agony of defeat.
Although this might not be the book for everyone, you can truly understand what these amazing people go through. Training with some of the best fighters in the world, Sam gives you in site to the teachings of Buddhist monks, muay thai champions, top professionals of Olympic status, Ultimate fighters, boxing professionals, top underground cock fights and pit bull fights just to include the animal instinct of fighting, and how its is compatible to how humans train and think in the ring.
Of course after reading this I wasn't as pumped as I was watching Rocky for the first time but it's an interesting outlook to the world of fighting. So if you interested in getting beaten to a pulp, cauliflower ears, bruised ribs, starving yourself to make a weight class, traveling the globe for a fight that might only pay a couple of grand, then this book is for you.
You also might want to check out Sam as he doubles for Paul Walker (uncredited) in the up and coming movie The Death and Life of Bobby Z(2006 in production). Along with Chuck Liddell, Pat Miletich, Tim Sylvia, and other fighters from around the US, Brazil and Mexico, Sam was on site of the filming in Mexico and teaching the actors how to make the fighting look real.

Why would Sam be on site to teach actors how to make the fighting look "real" when they are surrounded by some of the best fighters in the world who could probably teach them that for real?
he was basically there with his crew (the real fighters)i didn't mean he was there soley to teach them of course the real fighters didn't need his help but he was able to help the actors practice and he was good at performing kicks, READ the BOOK
